Religious Education News - Anne Leet
The Whole school focus theme for this JUBILEE 2025 year is ‘PILGRIMS OF HOPE’
This term ‘The Mother Teresa School Way’ is to be:
Companions on the Journey: Caring, Supporting, and Growing Together.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11
PRAYER FOCUS
Thank you to Ms Caputo, Ms Morris and Year 3 Aqua and Cobalt who presented a beautiful Prayer Focus about the Mother Teresa School Way to stay Calm. They sang beautifully and captivated their audience by singing ‘My Light House’. The scriptures reference was Jesus Calming the Storm.
This story reminds us that calm doesn’t come from pretending storms don’t exist—it comes from trusting that, even in chaos, Jesus is with us and has power over every storm. His calmness, rooted in faith and peace, changes everything.
Usually, when we respond from a stormy place—yelling, panicking, or blaming—it only makes things worse. But when we take a moment to breathe, pause, and invite God into the moment, the glitter begins to settle. We see more clearly and can respond with wisdom instead of worry. Thank you to all the parents who came along to lend their support.
Something to Think About
Jesus tells us to love one another just as he loves us. How did Jesus show his love for other people?
Dear Parents/Carers of Year 6 Students who are Catholic and are Preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation
Next week you will be required to fill out an online form with key details about who your child's Confirmation Sponsor will be. Please familiarise yourself with the booklet to ensure you are following the correct protocols.
Spirit Day- Friday 6th June at Holy Spirit Church
(Those students not participating in the day will remain at school and have suitable activities to complement the day)
Sacrament of Confirmation –Tuesday 10th June at 6.00pm
This will be a celebration of the Rite of Confirmation (not a full mass)
All our Confirmation candidates are truly embracing their ministries and getting involved in the Parish Masses. Well done! Don’t forget to bring your item of food for the ‘Food Pantry’.
This week in the world of sports has been as quiet as a library during finals week. But hold onto your hats, because Week 5 is gearing up to be a whirlwind of excitement!
Last week, we had 8 brave students from North Gungahlin dive into the ACT Swimming Championships. Our swimmers not only made waves but also achieved Personal Bests! Some even managed to conquer those pesky pre-race jitters. Who knew nerves could be so slippery? A huge round of applause to all our aquatic athletes for their incredible performances and notable placings!
In other news, I’m still on the lookout for a heroic parent (cape optional) to volunteer at the North Gungahlin Cross Country event at Stromlo on May 26. Your chance to shine, cheer, and maybe even get a workout in while helping out the team awaits!

The MTS Yearbook request for photos
The Mother Teresa School Yearbook has been confirmed for 2025, but this year, we are going to need your help to get it across the line.
Families that have been with us for a few years would know that each year, with the help of our school committee and dedicated parents and our amazing teachers, we have produced a 200 page, professionally printed yearbook featuring all classes and highlighting the momentous occasions and experiences throughout the year.
The Yearbook has always been wonderfully received in the school community and are great keepsakes for the children to reflect on their journey here. To help in that undertaking we are hoping for your assistance
We would specifically like to request any photos from the events that have occurred in term 1 while they are fresh on your memories
-swimming carnival
-Reconciliation
-Harmony day
- Excursions
If families have any photos or if you’re attending school events (sporting, social etc) and you take any photos we’d love for you to snap and send a few back to us to use in the yearbook (appropriate permissions will be sought).
If you can help us with the above, please reach out and contact the Yearbook team via the yearbook email MTSYearbook00@gmail.com
Kind regards
Lindsay Hackett
