The Sports Spectacle

What a whirlwind of a week it’s been for sports at MTS! On Monday, we unleashed 40 brave souls at the North Gunghalin Cross Country, and let me tell you, the weather gods were on our side—no rain until we crossed the finish line! Every student ran like they were being chased by a pack of wild dogs, and they should be bursting with pride. Several had set their sights on the top 30, and boy, did they crush it! Special shoutout to our speedsters Leo McCarroll, Eli Cannell, and William Minns, who zoomed into the top 10. You’ve earned a golden ticket to the ACT Carnival—more details to come.

Then came Tuesday, where we sent not one, not two, but three teams of 3/4 netball stars to the Netball Gala Day. And wow, did they show up in full MTS spirit! A huge thank you to the parents who volunteered; we couldn’t have done it without you! And let’s give a round of applause to Leah McIntosh, our Year 6 superstar, who bravely took on the role of umpire.

Now, onto the Athletics Carnival! The note went home earlier this week, and so far, only half of the invited students have responded. C’mon, folks! Your timely replies are like gold to me; they help finalise bus bookings and teacher supervision. We currently have 20 students ready to conquer the 800m, but remember, the Google form for nominations closes on June 2nd. No late entries will be accepted.
